Aesthetics

The word aesthetic is derived from the Greek αἰσθητικός (aisthetikos, meaning "esthetic, sensitive, sentient"), which in turn was derived from αἰσθάνομαι (aisthanomai, meaning "I perceive, feel, sense"). The term "aesthetics" was appropriated and coined with new meaning in the German form Æsthetik (modern spelling Ästhetik) by Alexander Baumgarten in 1735.

How do I get started in Medical Aesthetics?
Q. I am an Esthetician, so I've learned how to do basic facials, micros, peels, waxing, lashes, make-up, etc. But I want to get into lasers, hair removal, botox, high strength chemical peels. I'm in Chicago, there isn't a school for it and all the places want an Esthetician with experience so where do I get it?

A. I am a Chiropractor in Chicago. I started in massage school that also had an Esthetician Program. also go back and teach there periodically. I talk to the department head in the Esthetician Program. She told me... Actually, you only need to be working for a physician. There is a misconception which I think needs to be cleared up. A Medical Esthetician is someone who works directly for a physician performing skin care services. There is no state that I know of that recognizes a Medical Esthetician. Most is on the job training. Although you don't need a cosmetology license to work int he medical field, if you decide to go out on your own and work on referral for many physician's you will need one. But for right now think of all the… [cont.]

This collection initiates an inquiry into the aesthetic foundations of the fine arts. Their common aesthetic nature, as well as the differentiating specificities which… [cont.]
