Which Do You Enjoy Most? The Arts or the Physical Activity?
Q. Do you enjoy the mind healing Artistic Activity? For example: Painting, Drawing, Sculpting, Writing, Musical Arts, etc. Or the blood pumping Physical Activity? For example: Soccer, Football, Track, Gymnastics, Acrobatics, Swimming, etc.
Asked by DrkS6 - Thu Apr 29 23:25:05 2010 - Polls & Surveys - 11 Answers - Comments
A. well sort of both. depends on my mood. i LOVE soccer and swimming. but i'm also great at Ceramics and Drawing. i'm on the soccer team at school and i swim a lot in the summer whenever i get the chance i draw in my free time and i even have some Ceramic art that's going into an art show in a few weeks. but if i really really had to choose one.. maybe physical activity because its healthy for you in so many ways and it produces endorphins so basically, it is guaranteed to relieve your stress when sometimes you can be so stressed out when an art project isn't going right.

Physical impossibilities of martial arts in Chinese movies?
Q. I'm doing a project in physics class that explains why these feats in films are physically [as in, by the laws of physics] impossible. I want to address mainly the fighting scenes that happen in the trees, but also things like the knife throwing in House of Flying Daggers and diving for the sword in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Explanations, websites, formulas, laws, anything is helpful since there really isn't much out there on these movies. Thank you!

A. Let's just say gravity. For every one of your examples, gravity is the answer. In the Chinese fighting movies, the people end up flying entirely horizontally, just sort of suspended in midair. Unfortunately for them, gravity exerts a constant force upon each of us that prevents this. We accelerate downward at 9.8 m/s^2 any time we leave the earth's surface. Here are some things to think about in those movies: 1) When they jump, they go upward at a constant speed. This is impossible! They should be slowing down. There's no way they're exerting a force to keep a constant speed against earth's gravity. 2) Those knives... I have seen these movies where the knives fly thousands of feet before impaling someone. Gravity acts on those, too. Unless… [cont.]

A. There have been several studies that show a positive result when brain injured patients participate in Tai Chi. Tai Chi incorporates slow, meditative movements. In the general population as well as brain injured population it can help to improve balance, posture, strength, energy, happiness, concentration and overall health. Tai Chi also may help decrease pain, blood pressure, fatigue, anxiety, confusion, anger, tension, fear, and sadness.

A. The only two official "bridge programs" are Findlay in OH and Loma Linda in CA. However, the "transition" is not as "bridging" as it sounds. Both programs have stipulations that go beyond your PTA degree required for entrance. I think both of them do require that you complete the normal prerequisites as are required for other PT programs and completion of a BS. If you did not get these classes in your BS, you will be required to take these classes before you apply to the program. Furthermore, most schools require that you've taken the prereqs. within the last 5 years. Also, I don't think that there are any fewer classes as compared to a traditional PT program, it's just that the bridge programs allow one to do… [cont.]

My sister-in-law has a degree in art and she worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car...Not many jobs in the art field. You could always minor in art and still do it as a hobby. Just thought of this: Art Therapy. This is a practice used by some therapists, with children or those with special needs. Look it up.
